Indavara village is situated at a distance of about 6 kms from Chikmagalur town along N.R- Pura road. The population of the village is 1531 as per census 2001. The population of the village and growth rate is indicated in the above table. From 1991 to 2001 there is an increase of households from 225 to 317. Hence seeing the growth rate from 1961 to 1981, there is an gradual increase of population, from 1981 to 1991 there is a increase of only three persons, from 1991 to 2001 there is a major increase of population from 1238 to 1531.There is 23.66% increase in growth rate in 1991 to 2001.the reason might be increase of households that is 92 households have increased.

 

The occupation pattern describes the economic status of the village. Seeing the occupation structure of the village it is mainly depended on primary sector that is cultivation and agricultural laborers. Proportion of cultivators is 29.0%, out of which 37.8% are males and 5.2% are females compared to total population. Agricultural laborers are 27.4%, out of which 25.6% are males and 32.0% are females compared to total population.

 

Percentage of other workers is 43.5% where as cultivators and agricultural laborers are 29.0% and 27.4% to total workers. All workers, i.e., those who have been engaged in some economic activity during the last one year, but are not cultivators or agricultural laborers or in Household Industry, are 'Other Workers (OW)'. Hence here in Indavara village we can see all the activities are involved like primary, secondary and terriatiary activities. Terriatiary activities are more, this is 43.5%.

             

From the above table- 15 we can see the sex ratio of the village is 1017 which is more compared to the chikmagalur which is 957.But sex ratio between 0-6 is 1041 which is more compared to the normal sex ratio.. Hence women related policies and house hold industries can be adopted.
